Examples of difficulties with Fine Motor Skills:

  • Struggles with handwriting
  • Weak grasp, frequently dropping things
  • Has difficulty with managing buttons, snaps, zippers, fasteners
  • Struggles with turning pages in books
  • Unable to remove and/or put on clothing independently
  • Resists coloring activities with crayons and markers
  • Has difficulty with learning how to hold and use a spoon or fork
  • Unable to manage shapes, blocks, puzzle pieces
  • Uses whole hand rather than using index finger and thumb to pick up small objects or pieces of food
